Professionals: Learn about sexual abuse from the child's perspective...Message Sexual Abuse Education Program provides practioners with the most innovative and valuable training tool available in sexual abuse. The Message curriculum and workshops are designed to teach the affects and effects of sexual abuse on the developing child. "This curriculum provides a depth of experience found in few academic programs. Had it been available 10 years ago, my counselors and I would have been better equipped to do our work with clients, male and female, who have known sexual abuse." The result of six years of research, writing, and piloting, MESSAGE Sexual Abuse Education Program takes participants out of the world of analytical thinking and into the world of behaviors, thoughts and emotions that can only be experienced as a child who is sexually abused. Who should use MESSAGE? This curriculum was designed to enhance the training of graduate students and professionals who treat victims of sexual abuse--children and adults--and professionals who interact with children on a daily basis, e.g., personnel in the fields of education, medicine, and law enforcement . Treatment skills of practicing therapists will be enhanced. Graduate students and interns will be better prepared, making better use of supervisory and consultation times. As you seek-out programs to educate members of your organization about sexual abuse issues, consider using Message Sexual Abuse Education Program and workshops as part of that training.NOTE: This program is not to be used by victims of sexual abuse or parents of children who were abused.
